The Ongoing Pandemic Response
I live in what I believe is officially termed the sticks. We aren’t rural, my close neighbors don’t have fields. But people do have a lot of land, as well as goats, chickens, alpacas, and horses. I don’t have to drive very far before I’m in rural, where there are fields and cattle. Going the other direction, it doesn’t take me long before I reach true suburbs and city.
We also have property. 6.5 acres of woodlands, most of it undeveloped. The paths through the trees and underbrush are kept clean by my husband and his machete.
In addition, both my husband and I are full-time writers. We make our living writing. So there’s no job to go into, no office or co-workers to deal with.
Last year, we said that we were playing, “Apocalypse 2020” on one of the easiest settings available. Though our income dipped dramatically, we had savings we could fall back on.
There were two reasons to go into town: groceries and internet. Groceries because at that time, the delivery services were pretty limited. (I suppose I should check and see if they’ve gotten better over the last year.)
As for internet — we don’t have much bandwidth out here. We go through our cell phone company for internet, and it’s limited.
