Why failing isn’t a big deal
I suffered a culinary failure last night.
As I’m older (I’ll be 60 in 2021) I take more supplements than I used to. I’m aware, though, that a lot of supplements don’t contain what they say they contain. Plus, they’re frequently packed full of fillers, like rice bran or starch.
So I generally do not buy pills, but purchase the chemical I’m looking for as a powder. I have no guarantee that what it says is on the package is actually in the package. However, I’ve had pretty good success in terms of the supplements working and doing what they’re supposed to when I’ve used this sort of source.
One of the supplements that I take for my joints is hyaluronic acid (HA). (If you’re older and have joint issues, I would highly recommend you take it as well. It’s a well-studied supplement with a lot of scientific studies done on it over the past twenty years.)
Most of the powders that I take I merely measure it out and throw it into my mouth, then drink some water. For example, I do that for the calcium and magnesium that I take.
I cannot do that with the HA. As soon as it comes into contact with any liquid it immediately turns into a gel. I’ve tried it a few times and ended up coating the inside of my mouth with it, then feel like I need to scrape it off over the…
