Thoughts on writing for Medium after One Year
It is my Medium anniversary! I started posting to Medium one year ago this week. This is my 49th post during that time.
When I first started a year ago, I was planning on only writing one Medium post a month. I started with something easy — salads. I eat a big salad almost every day. I recently started making my own salad dressing. And I’m now growing a lot of my own lettuce hydroponically.
But I found I had more things to say. And I really liked writing these articles. So it quickly turned into a once-a-week deadline for me.
As I have chronic health issues, I’m writing this a couple of weeks before the date occurs. This way, I write on days when I can and have planned ahead well enough so that I don’t miss a deadline.
The once-a-week deadline for Medium articles has gotten really important to me. After I started posting every week, I only missed once, due to health and Life. (I had quite a bit of Life happening during 2020. Here’s hoping that 2021 will be slightly calmer.)
Where do I get my ideas? Frequently they’re triggered by events that happen during the week. As I post every Thursday morning, I have a reminder on my phone every Thursday evening that I need to write a new Medium post. Sometimes I just look around my house or my…
